The causes for this instability cannot be understood through reductionist approaches which only see the event through the lens of “women’s liberation” or a sinister ploy masterminded by the country’s enemies. What we’re seeing is the frustration of the masses with a brutal authoritarian regime which masquerades as an “Islamic republic.”
